sustainable Haiti

Latest Correspondence Update

Because of the vast devastation and urgent basic needs of the country we have shifted our program efforts to rapid response on the ground aid relief including, water, food, medicine, DR teams, fuel and other critical supplies.  We are partnering with other established and credible small non-profits and have been successful in bringing aid to areas not yet reached by other organizations.  Some of these areas spent 6 days with out food or water and we know there are areas still yet to be reached.

We will continue to work on the short term emergency needs of most importantly water, food, medical and fuel. The mid-term needs will be shelter, communication and infrastructure needs. Long term rebuilding and recovery will be just that, long term and on going. We stand by the people of Haiti and are prepared to offer technical assistance, resources, training and our support as we stand together in the wake of this devastating tragedy.

HSDF is committed to providing support to Haiti and we could use your help in giving what you can to the cause.

Mission Statement: Committed to progressively advancing opportunities in sustainably developing communities throughout Haiti.

Our Board of Directors have taken an inescapable interest in Haiti after bearing witness first hand to the many challenges Haitians face evry day. Haiti is a country rich in culture and ingenuity.  It has survived in relative isolation  and remained the most underdeveloped country in the western hemisphere although surrounded by the wealthiest countries in the world. >>learn more

Weekday's Haiti Coverage: A Local Story

Many US families were personally affected by the recent tragedy in Haiti. Seattle painter Kathy McAllister is one of those people affected. Her husband is from Haiti and was visiting in Haiti when the earthquake struck. He was buried in a collapsed building for almost five hours, but survived. Kathy talks with KUOW to share her perspective on events.
