Haiti is a country rich in culture and ingenuity.  It has survived in relative isolation  and remained the most underdeveloped country in the western hemisphere although surrounded by the wealthiest countries in the world.  >>learn more

Weekday's Haiti Coverage: A Local Story

Many US families were personally affected by the recent tragedy in Haiti. Seattle painter Kathy McAllister is one of those people affected. Her husband is from Haiti and was visiting in Haiti when the earthquake struck. He was buried in a collapsed building for almost five hours, but survived. Kathy talks with KUOW to share her perspective on events.
